Fitzgerald's first starring role in Hollywood -- note the prominent above-the-title billing -- A CHILD IS BORN (1939).

Once again playing second fiddle to Merle Oberon, this time in Warner Bros.' romance 'TIL WE MEET AGAIN (1940), also starring George Brent and Pat O'Brien.

What would they do if they only had six months to live?  Fitzgerald headlines the drama FLIGHT FROM DESTINY (1941), co-starring Thomas Mitchell, Jeffrey Lynn and James Stephenson.

Again opposite James Stephenson, though this time playing a doctor and billed below him in SHINING VICTORY (1941).

Joining Barbara Stanwyck and Nancy Coleman as THE GAY SISTERS (1942).

With George Coulouris in Warner Bros.' adaptation of Lillian Hellman's wartime drama WATCH ON THE RHINE (1943), starring Bette Davis and Paul Lukas.
