Interview: Excerpt 2

Reminiscences of Teresa Wright

New York, June 1959

On the Transition from Stage to Screen

Q: Did you find it difficult when you first went to Hollywood to acclimate yourself to the camera?

No, I didn't. I think probably because I had not had a great deal of experience on the stage, and I was young enough to be able to adapt. I hadn't set any pattern. I feel that my "style" is rather a small one anyway, so it adapted itself well to camera.

. . .

With pictures you just must be thinking the right thing, because it will show if you're not. When there's a close-up of your eyes, you can't be thinking of making the 11:45 or something.
